Terms and Conditions

INTRODUCTION

Advantage Fuel offers residential fuel purchase options, including home heating oil. Advantage Fuel offers assistance by phone or email. This is all it does. It does not perform residential heating oil delivery or service.

Advantage Fuel brings together, in one place, multiple residential heating oil suppliers so that customers can conveniently find a supplier that meets their needs. Once a customer selects a supplier to perform services, a delivery of home heating oil or service work can be scheduled to a residential property. A customer can select a different supplier for each separate request for services.

Each supplier presented on Advantage Fuel is solely responsible for the information displayed by them, including prices, tax rates, quantities, schedules, availability, advertisements, etc. Suppliers have access to or control over their own information and thus are responsible to make sure it is accurate. Suppliers are also responsible for any inaccuracies or errors, intended or unintended. Advantage Fuel does not verify or make any representation regarding the supplier information presented.

Commercial properties are not permitted to use Advantage Fuel to receive any services offered. A supplier must cancel any commercial purchase completed on Advantage Fuel.

CUSTOMER

Purchase and Charge Process

  1. Customer finds suppliers by entering a zip code and selects one based on price and any other supplier information.
  2. Customer proceeds with a supplier by selecting the button / link for oil delivery or service.
    • Note A: If Cash pricing is selected, ONLY cash will be accepted by the oil delivery driver. A person must be present at the residential property to make cash payment at the time of delivery.
    • Note B: Other charges may apply, such as a Same Day Delivery charge, as noted in each supplier's information.
  3. For an oil delivery, enter the number of gallons or check the fill tank option (use tank size). The page will calculate applicable sales tax and the total amount.
  4. Customer proceeds to confirm purchase details.
  5. Customer proceeds to payment details.
  6. For credit card purchases, customer submits the purchase:
    • For oil delivery, a Authorization Only transaction is used to verify the availability of funds on the credit card (effectively reserving the funds for 30 days). A Capture transaction (which charges the credit card based on the related Authorization Only) will be used after the oil delivery is completed. These two transactions form a complete transaction.
    • For service, a Authorization and Capture transaction is used to charge the credit card.
    • Note C: Customer represents that they are the owner or an authorized user of the credit card.
    • Note D: Settlement with the supplier is performed after the oil delivery is completed and credit card fund transfers are cleared.

Cancellations

Once a purchase has been completed on Advantage Fuel, a customer may want to cancel that purchase. Cancellations of credit card oil delivery purchases will incur a $15.00 cancellation charge. Cancellations of cash purchases could result in the inactivation of a customers account on Advantage Fuel. Advantage Fuel is not responsible if an oil delivery is made by a supplier, even though a customer cancelled or tried to cancel a purchase.

To cancel a purchase, follow one of the methods below, depending on when the scheduled date occurs.

Same Day or Next Day
If the scheduled date is less then 2 days away, the customer must contact the oil supplier directly to cancel. Supplier contact information will appear in your email confirmation. Cancellation is not possible on Advantage Fuel.

Two Days or More
If the scheduled date occurs in 2 days or more, the customer can cancel on Advantage Fuel. After customer login, navigate to Customer Contol Panel, select Purchase History, and choose the Cancel button / link for the purchase.

Credit Card Transactions

Oil Delivery Purchases
A Authorization Only transaction is used when the purchase is submitted. A Capture transaction is used after the oil delivery is completed. See "Purchase and Charge Process" above for more detail.

Service Purchases
A Authorization and Capture transaction is used when the purchase is submitted. The credit card is charged at that time.

Transactions will appear as AdvantageFuel.com or Advantage Fuel on customer statements, except in the roll out stage (early 2014) where another name may appear (a possible transition). SSL encryption is used throughout this website to protect data being sent to and from the web server, including login credentials, purchase, and payment data.

Cost of Oil Deliveries
  • Initial Oil Cost = supplier price/gallon X number of gallons entered. Tank size is used as the number of gallons with the fill tank option. The Initial Oil Cost is part of the Authorization Only credit card transaction
  • Final Oil Cost = supplier price/gallon X number of gallons delivered. Customer acknowledges that supplier prices can change based on number of gallons (ie 100 gallon price could be higher then 150 gallon price). A higher price may apply because gallons delivered were less then entered in Advantage Fuel. The Final Oil Cost is part of the Capture credit card transaction.

Additional sales tax is dependent on location

Oil Delivery Changes: Gallons and Price

As mentioned above in "Cost of Oil Deliveries" there can be a difference between gallons entered in Advantage Fuel and gallons delivered, which can result in a price change. Whenever there is a gallon difference, the Advantage Fuel supplier pricing will apply to the number of gallons delivered to calculate the Final Oil Cost (again, see above). Customer is responsible for entering an accurate number of gallons when making a purchase and for any change in total amount due after delivery.

When the total amount due after delivery is higher then the Advantage Fuel total purchase amount (example: customer authorizes more oil to be delivered then entered on website), customer must pay the additional amount (the difference) to the supplier at delivery time.

When the total amount due after delivery is lower then the Advantage Fuel total purchase amount, customer pays the lesser amount (either in cash to the supplier at delivery or as the final Advantage Fuel charge to the credit card)

Agree To Pay

The customer agrees to pay for any and all purchases initiated and completed by the selected suppliers. Additionally, the customer agrees to reimburse any and all fees or costs incurred in the collection of amounts due, including credit card charge backs (contested transactions), bank & attorney fees, and miscellaneous fees.

Right To Refuse

Advantage Fuel and/or the suppliers presented reserve the right to not accept a completed purchase. Potential causes would include, but not are not limited to these issues: supplier pricing, delivery truck, oil supply, weather, holiday, general delivery delays. In the event a refusal becomes necessary, the customer will be contacted to make alternate plans, acceptable by each party. If alternate plans can not be made, the purchase will be cancelled, and the cancellation charge waived

Supplier Settlement for Oil Deliveries

Suppliers are paid after the oil delivery is completed and credit card fund transfers are cleared. Supplier settlements include accounting for cash oil deliveries. No settlements are needed for service work or cancellations. Advantage Fuel retains a minor percentage of the final supplier settlement amounts for oil deliveries.

Independent Suppliers

Suppliers presented are independent of Advantage Fuel. Advantage Fuel is not related to these suppliers, makes no representation about them, and makes no warranty or promise in regard to their products and services. Each supplier confirms to have obtained appropriated licensing and insurance for the products and services they offer. Advantage Fuel is not responsible for any supplier issues related to work performance, work non-performance, errors, accidents, personal / property damage, heating systems, empty tanks, employee conduct or similar supplier concerns.

Oil Heat Repair Service

Advantage Fuel presents suppliers who offer residential oil heat repair service (including oil burner repair). Service work can involve many different charges such as labor, parts, miscellaneous fees, and tax. Only base rates for a supplier are presented because it is not possible to know all charges before the service is performed. A customer will make their selection for service knowing in advance that various supplier charges may (and likely will) apply. As the service progresses, the customer is responsible for knowing about, overseeing and approving the work performed and charges by that supplier.

Advantage Fuel is not responsible for nor has any liability for service work, related work, final charges, work performed / not performed, personal / property damages, delays, or other issues. Advantage Fuel only assists the customer in making their initial decision of scheduling service with a supplier, using the information presented by that supplier.

Advantage Fuel will charge the customers credit card a $40.00 non-refundable charge when the service is purchased. When the service work is completed, the supplier will reduce their final invoice to the customer by this amount and the customer will pay the balance due to the supplier.

Limitations, Liabilities

Advantage Fuel is not responsible for:

  • technical issues (server operations, client or server software & hardware, database, cookies, etc.).
  • internet connection issues.
  • website confirmation and communication issues

Neither Advantage Fuel nor the suppliers presented are liable for any issues (damages, injury, spyware, virus, etc.) that may occur from using this website
